First loves are always hardest when they end, especially when you know that you’ll never love another the same way. So when you get that second chance, it’s always exciting but rarely without complications which is exactly how Salem and Romes story goes. From young lovers to strangers and everything in between. They both have experienced heartbreak and pain….especially since losing each other. Salem is trying to navigate life after losing her husband and reconnecting with Rome. Rome is trying to make up for his past mistakes and show Salem that she is and has always been the one his heart bears for. There’s A LOT going on in this story. We flashback a few times to their relationship when they were younger and it was nice to see the progression and how they have grown. We focus a lot more on Rome and Salem and their relationship in this book versus the other where we had a lot of the club activities…which is kind of nice because we get to see a different side of them both. One thing that bothered me was the cheating aspect. I didn’t realise that Rome had cheated on Salem and I really really just do not like when it happens between the MC’s. I get that it happened. I get that it’s a mistake. But for me…it takes away from the power and conviction of his words when he says he loves her. Again. That’s just me. The book is fast paced and action packed. Full of spice, angst and tension. At times it felt like it was almost TOO MUCH…there was so much going on that a lot didn’t really get resolved. And I understand that it’s leaving the door open for more to come but I think, personally, it could have done with a little less.
