Which kids benefit from early braces? 🤔 Here is what I look for…🦷 When it comes to braces, timing is important. The combinations of problems we see - crowding, teeth angulation, jaw alignment, tongue position, airway, spacing, overbites, tongue position, habits, underbites, overjet, crossbites, scissors bites, open bites, facial imbalance, missing or extra teeth, impacted teeth, and so much more - will dictate the ideal age, time, and treatment we select, and it’s rarely one size fits all. Aside from these three big ones, there are other nuanced issues that orthodontists will look for at screenings, and if you don’t have an orthodontist in the family, it’s not a bad idea to get a screening done for your kids at an ortho office, especially if they land in the 7-10 yr old range.
