For the first time ever 🥳✨🪩 New Yorkers and visitors have participated in the changing of the crystals for the @Times Square NYC New Year’s Eve Ball when @One Times Square brings a one-of-a-kind display with hundreds of crystal triangles to the Times Square Broadway Plaza between 46th and 47th Streets on Thursday, December 19, at 11:00 a.m. Members of the public were invited to change out crystal triangles from the past and replace them with the newly designed Crystal Triangle to be placed on the Ball for the December 31st, 2024 celebration. After replacing the current crystal with one 2025 crystal on the display, participants took home their crystal triangle from the current New Year’s Eve Ball as a keepsake and gift to the public from One Times Square, which is announcing its opening in 2025. The activation is also a preview of what’s to come next year, including the Crystal VIP Experience, where ticketed guests will have a behind-the-scenes, up close look at the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball, place a new crystal directly on the Ball, and take home a personalized crystal. The New Year’s Eve Ball is a geodesic sphere, 12 feet in diameter, and weighs 11,875 pounds. The Ball is covered with a total of 2,688 crystal triangles that vary in size, and range in length from 4 3/4 inches to 5 3/4 inches per side.
