Replying to @Migle So two reasons: first because I don’t believe either of my parents should ‘give me away’ or pass over responsibility, I wanted to be completely alone in that moment, making the decision to marry Caspar on my own, walking towards him independently. And secondly because my parents divorced when I was 8 years old and my mum was the primary caregiver / we lived with my mum so it didn’t feel right to have my dad be the one to ‘give me away’ as it were, but I also love my dad and didn’t want to choose my mum over him. Tied with the reasons above I chose to walk myself down the aisle and have my parents walk together just before me to symbolise their joint support of our marriage
Replying to @my name is sebastian 🩰our venue was mostly uneven grass so I didn’t even think about heels as I didn’t want to wear any shoes that would be difficult to walk in / would sink in the grass! Especially as I was walking down the aisle on my own I didn’t want any risk of tripping. And I wanted to be completely comfortable! Once I found the perfect ballet flats from Repetto my wedding dress designers embroidered the date and our initials in my handwriting on each shoe 🥹
