I posted a photo last night that was ‘nice’ and got alot of compliments and likes. Of course, that short term validation felt amazing… but i had a full face of makeup on, hair in rollers for hours, fake tanned, fillers, sucking in, smoothed my skin and posed….today i woke up feeling bloated and had broken out in a rash and it was like going from a high to an absolute low. Its important to recognise that long term happiness in yourself is so important as well as those short bursts of validation. The idea of ‘gaining weight’ from a young age always seemed terrifying. Growing up around so many stereotypes to watch what I ate, fit into a certain clothes size or exercise all the time consumed my teenage years. So when I ended this year and realised I’d lost a lot of weight at the start of the year and had put it back on across the summer, those teenage years came straight back. I’ve trained myself in my 20s to undo those thoughts. I love my body whatever size I am. I stopped this self sabotaging thoughts and reflected on my year as a whole. This year I grew so much as a person and had such a successful year because of that. I’m more than my looks. I’m more than my body. I’m more than the clothes I wear or my makeup routine.
