When I feed Aura a frozen cucumber, she uses her front AND back teeth to chew, bite, & tear which helps massage her gums & scrape her teeth! Plus, cucumbers don’t have the added wheat, gluten or cellulose found in other “dental chew” treats…👇 How I feed cucumbers: ✅ Wash first & buy organic/local when possible ✅ Remove skin if choking is a concern (eg small dogs) ✅ Feed in moderation (ANY food in excess can lead to GI upset) I buy mini cucumbers ✅ I feed as slices or freeze whole like this (sometimes after being soaked in pet safe bone broth) as an all natural “dental/gum cleaner” & enrichment ⚠️ I supervise every chew. It’s a blur how we made it through 😣 Daffodil was in such poor condition when I started fostering her, and then 48 hours later she gave birth to 9 puppies 😱 I was in over my head & felt hopeless with how to help her best… but despite being at her WORST, Daffodil’s softness never wavered I wish I could say I got us through, but the truth is, Daffodil gets all of the credit We don’t speak the same language, yet she somehow showed me exactly what she needed through a gut wrenching recovery post partum 😔 We moved in sync & her eyes guided my next move, we were a team & together we made it through Since she was so malnourished when dumped at the shelter, it took her WEEKS to recover while she was nursing 9 puppies (which is a lot for a smaller dog) And for those that followed, you remember how things got much much worse after that 😔 Fast forward to today, all of the surviving pups (& Daffodil), are thriving, in their forever homes, & STILL stay in touch to this day!
