The pearl vs where it came from. Four whole years to get to this point ✨ #kamoka #kamokapearl #pearlfarming #oceanconservation #regenerativefarming #Sustainability #ocean
We’ve always had our oysters out in the deep blue where water quality is ideal for them to grow. However reef fish don’t venture out so far so the oysters have pests that grow on them quite quickly. This is why we bring them into shallow waters every few months to get cleaned by reef fish. This leaves the oysters temporarily exhausted reducing pearl quality. So we had an idea. Why not bring the fish to them? We built new oyster line structures that create an artificial reef. Having these lines close up to a real reef has given fish enough shelter for them to have the confidence to venture out into the deep blue to clean our oysters. Not only does this keep our oysters clean 24/7, we’ve already seen a massive increase in pearl quality and growth speed. This would not be possible at scale without working alongside the marine ecosystem. 🏝️🌊🪸🐠 #kamoka #kamokapearl #pearljewelry #pearlfarming #oceanconservation #Sustainability #ocean #regenerativefarming
